What is this website about?
Many countries in Europe work together in the EU.
“EU” is short for European Union.
For example, the countries work together to
- make shared laws.
- set shared goals.
This website is about important women for the EU.
Problems still include:
- There are fewer women than men in politics.
- Women are often paid less than men for the same work.
What is the #EUwomen project?
There was an exhibition in 2020.
This exhibition was called #EUwomen.
The # symbol is known as a “hashtag”.
EU is short for “European Union”.
The exhibition was held in different places.
The exhibition was about important women for the EU.
Many people visited this exhibition.
All texts and images from the exhibition are available on this website.
All texts are also available in English.
#EUwomen is a joint project of
- the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and
- the Representation of the European Commission in Germany. .
The agency gwf-Ausstellungen planned and designed
the exhibition.

This section is about:
· Women who campaign for inclusion.
Inclusion means:
Everyone should be able to take part everywhere.
This includes, for example, people with disabilities.
· Women who campaign for diversity.
Diversity means:
Everyone is different.
And that is a good thing.
Everyone should have the same rights and opportunities in life.
This includes, for example, people with different skin colours and people with different genders.
We also introduce the President of the European Commission.
She has an important job in the EU.

Politicians from all EU countries sit in the European Parliament.
People from the EU countries elect these politicians.
